“Now the Bereans were more noble-minded than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if these teachings were true.”
(Acts 17:11)
This week I have been in Anderson, Indiana with the Pickens County Disaster Relief team. We are led by Gary Rogers, PBA Disaster Relief Coordinator, and his team of 6 men and 2 ladies. We were able to complete at least 8 different mud-out and clean-up projects. As we were working, we were busy getting to know the families to whom we were ministering. Some projects were easier than others.
The contacts were the most important. We could talk with them to share why we were in Anderson, Indiana. Yes, we were there to help them with their physical needs, but our main purpose is to share the Gospel with those who are hurting from the loss of homes, appliances, and special memorabilia. Only Jesus can minister to those hurts. On our first day, first house, on Saturday, September 5, we met Brady. He is the 23 year old son of the owner of the house, his mom. She had to work.
As we were finishing the job, I quoted John 3:16 and asked him if he believed in Jesus. I asked him if he’d like to right then, and he said, “Yes, he would.” WOW! What a joy to lead him to Christ! The team was super excited. This young man accepted Jesus with eagerness. May we, as His followers, be as eager.
Until Next Month,
Bro. Lyle
