“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up as you already are doing.”
(I Thessalonians 5:11)
September is always the Myers-Mallory Alabama State Missions Offering. The dates for this year’s emphasis are Sunday, September 6 until Sunday, September 13. These monies are distributed to the Alabama WMU, Disaster Relief, Church Planting, Partnership Missions, and Church Revitalization. The goal is $ 1.2 million dollars with every penny given going to each of these 5 areas.
There is a free prayer kit that can be ordered from the Alabama WMU office through email @ dclark.alsbom.org or by calling (334) 613-2225. It includes the weekly prayer guide, a promotional video, downloadable posters/flyers, downloadable art and social media icons, week of prayer videos, age-level study materials, and other general information concerning Great Commission Ministries. I encourage you to participate in this missions effort. All of our Pickens Baptist Associational churches have been blessed through this offering in the past.
I realize it’s early, but it’s never too early to start promoting our Deacons/Wives Banquet on Monday, September 28 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church at 6:30 pm. The cost will be $ 20.00 per couple. This is always a great time of fellowship with fellow deacons and their wives. You are able to visit and share with one another how your churches are doing. Let’s not forget to pray with and for one another as our key verse states, “encourage one another and build each other up”.
PBA pastors and staff, don’t forget the Gideon’s dinner on Thursday, September 17 at Carrollton Baptist Church at 6:00 pm. This is to honor you for touching your communities with the Bibles that you ordered through this ministry. If you have not ever used this resource, I’d encourage you to do so.
Continue praying for our 6 pastorless churches. Some of them have been pastorless for some time. Not only do they need a new shepherd, but also, they need their own local leadership to serve faithfully, especially the men, during these transitional times.
May the Lord strengthen and support each of you as you seek to fulfill the Lord’s will!
Until Next Month,
Bro. Lyle
